Steven D. Huff Los Angeles, California
A native of Idaho, Mr. Huff formed and operated two successful businesses prior to becoming a lawyer. He later served more than three years as in-house counsel for a large agricultural corporation where he oversaw the Corporate Services Department, which included legal, human resources, and payroll departments. This responsibility included investigating and responding to EEOC, DFEH, and employee allegations of sexual harassment and discrimination and the resolution of these matters. He also advised department heads on employment law concerns, such as exempt/non-exempt issues, terminations, and disciplinary actions. His experience further touched upon various proceedings with the union that represented some of the corporation's employees including renewal of the collective bargaining agreement. In private practice, Mr. Huff participated in numerous jury trials, tried both contractual and court-ordered arbitrations, and took part in numerous mediations. Cases he has handled include insurance agent defense, employment issues (discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination), independent contractor matters, and general business issues (including employment policies and procedures and drafting employee handbooks and policies), as well as insurance bad faith and other professional malpractice matters.
